PROTON Strengthens ESG Efforts with Beach Cleanup Campaign

PROTON collected a total of 536kg of waste during its latest environmental initiative at Pantai Cermin, Port Dickson, reaffirming the automaker’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation.

The programme, known as PROTON Beach Cleaning 3.0, marked its third consecutive year and brought together 82 volunteers, including PROTON employees and students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). Working side by side, participants cleared rubbish and marine debris from the shoreline to help protect coastal habitats and improve the beach environment.

The collaboration with UPSI added an educational element to this year's campaign, giving students practical experience in environmental conservation while encouraging greater awareness of sustainable living. The initiative aims to inspire young people to become active advocates for protecting natural resources within their communities.

A total of 536kg of waste was successfully removed, helping preserve the local coastal ecosystem while maintaining the cleanliness of one of Port Dickson’s popular recreational beaches.

The beach cleanup is part of PROTON’s broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, reflecting the company's continued efforts to create positive environmental and social impact through community engagement. By involving employees, students, and local stakeholders, PROTON hopes to encourage long-term participation in sustainability initiatives and strengthen collective responsibility for environmental protection.
