Perodua Traz Takes SUV Sales Lead in Malaysia for July 2026
Malaysia’s SUV market has a new monthly leader, with the Perodua Traz taking the top spot in July 2026. The Perodua Traz recorded 2,244 registrations in July, marking the first time the SUV has led Malaysia’s SUV sales chart since its launch in December 2025.
The result ended the Proton X50’s six-month winning streak. From January to June, the X50 remained the best-selling SUV every month, while the newer Traz generally stayed within the top three as production and deliveries increased.
In July, however, the Traz moved ahead with 2,244 units, followed closely by the Perodua Ativa with 1,959 units and the Proton X50 with 1,953 units. The Proton X50 took fourth place with 1,953 units.
Despite its strong July performance, the Traz has not yet overtaken the X50 for overall 2026 sales. From January to July, the Proton X50 recorded 15,599 registrations, compared with 12,997 for the Traz and 12,069 for the Ativa.
The latest figures show that the competition in Malaysia’s SUV market is becoming increasingly close. With the Traz gaining momentum and the Toyota Yaris Cross also building up sales, the second half of 2026 could see a much tighter battle for the SUV sales crown.
