Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia has confirmed that the Jaecoo J5 EV will officially launch in Malaysia on September 2, 2026, at Parc, Subang Jaya. The public can attend the event from 2pm to 7pm, with test drives available.

The electric SUV was opened for bookings in July with an estimated price of RM125,000. It will be locally assembled (CKD) at Chery Corporate Malaysia’s plant in Shah Alam.

The J5 EV is powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 211 PS and 288 Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. It uses a 58.9 kWh LFP battery with a claimed 402 km WLTP range.

For charging, the J5 EV supports 130 kW DC fast charging, taking around 28 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. It also comes with 3.3 kW V2L capability, allowing the vehicle to supply power to external electrical devices.

Inside, the SUV features a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, 8.88-inch digital instrument display, powered ventilated front seats, panoramic roof, dual-zone air conditioning, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360-degree camera and powered tailgate. The J5 EV also offers Pet Mode, Camping Mode and a 35-litre front storage compartment.

With its combination of 211 PS, 402 km range, fast charging and local assembly, the J5 EV could be an interesting new contender in Malaysia’s electric SUV market. The final pricing will be revealed at the official launch on September 2.
