Proton Records Highest Monthly Sales in August 2026

SUBANG JAYA, 3 September 2026 – Proton recorded its highest monthly domestic sales in August 2026, selling a total of 22,632 units. This was a 22.7% increase from July and pushed the company’s total sales for the first eight months of 2026 to 141,421 units, up 40.2% from the same period last year.



The strong performance was supported by popular models such as the Proton Saga, X50, X90 and S70. The S70 achieved its best monthly result with 3,235 units sold in August, bringing its year-to-date sales to 17,953 units. The Saga also remained a strong seller, with 7,347 units sold during the month.



Proton’s electric vehicle brand, Proton e.MAS, also achieved a new monthly sales record. A total of 6,047 e.MAS vehicles were sold in August, bringing its 2026 sales to 27,860 units. The e.MAS 5 was the biggest contributor, with 4,818 units sold, making it Malaysia’s best-selling EV for the month.

Exports also continued to grow, with Proton selling 2,477 vehicles overseas in August. This brought total exports for the first eight months of 2026 to 6,059 units, already higher than the 6,000 units exported during the whole of 2025.



Proton Deputy CEO Dato' Ir. Abdul Rashid Musa said the record sales showed strong customer confidence in the brand. He added that growing exports and strong demand for Proton e.MAS are helping the company move closer to its sales and financial targets for 2026.
